Inland Transport
Road freight · Factory to port
How does cargo get from the factory to the port?
Cargo reaches the port by road in a container trailer, an open truck or, for oversize pieces, a multi-axle trailer. The vehicle depends on the cargo and whether it is containerised. Each movement needs an e-way bill, and export containers must reach the terminal before the vessel cut-off to make the sailing.
We book the vehicle, time the pickup against the vessel cut-off and track it to the gate. The same team handles the customs filing, so the truck is never waiting at the port for paperwork.

Related services
What is usually booked with inland transport?
Do I need an e-way bill to move goods to the port?
Yes, for goods above the value limit set under GST, which covers most commercial consignments. The e-way bill is generated on the GST portal before dispatch and travels with the vehicle. We generate it as part of the booking.
How early should the truck leave for the port?
Early enough to reach the terminal before the vessel cut-off, with room for loading, the road and the gate queue. We plan backwards from the cut-off rather than forward from the factory, so the container does not miss its sailing.
Can you move cargo to an ICD instead of the port?
Yes. Cargo can be cleared at ICD Ahmedabad, Sanand, Vadodara, Ankleshwar or Varnama and moved sealed to the port by rail or road, which suits exporters far from the coast.
What vehicle does my cargo need?
Containerised cargo goes on a 20ft or 40ft trailer. Loose, palletised or bagged cargo on its way to a CFS goes in an open truck. Heavy or oversize pieces need a multi-axle trailer and sometimes a permit.
Is inland transport insured?
The transporter's liability is limited, so we recommend transit insurance for valuable cargo. Tell us the value when you book and we will advise on cover for the road leg.
Can you handle both the transport and the customs?
Yes. Booking the truck and filing the shipping bill with the same team means the container is not waiting at the gate for paperwork, and one team answers for the whole movement.
How long does it take to truck cargo from Morbi or Rajkot to Mundra?
Typically about a day for the road leg, including loading and the port gate. Traffic, gate queues and the time of dispatch change it, so we plan pickup to arrive with a margin before the vessel cut-off rather than on the day.
What happens if the truck misses the vessel cut-off?
The container rolls to the next sailing, which can mean extra port storage and a late shipment to your buyer. That is why pickups are timed back from the cut-off, and why we track the vehicle to the gate and warn you early if it is running late.
